Wake Up Or Die In Your Sleep
You may have read with disgust any or all of the following items, as well as others like them:
1. From the WSJ: “The U.S. government unveiled a plan to scrap its $123 billion bailout of American International Group and replace it with a new package worth around $150 billion.”
2. Michael Alix, the chief risk officer of Bear Stearns from 2006-2008 and their global head of credit risk management from 1996-2006, has been named a senior vice president in the Bank Supervision Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. This the the same Bear Stearns whose abuse of risk caused its demise as a free standing entity.
3. Hank Paulson, the fox who, as head of Goldman Sachs, petitioned for the increased leverage that turns out to have decimated the global economy, is now in the hen house attempting to restore order.
This is what happens when John and Jane Q. Public abdicate responsibility for the actions of their government, preferring to play ostrich rather than pay attention. We are the the cats who were away and let the rodents play. And this is just the economic realm. Don’t get me started on foreign policy.
I can’t stress enough the need for what these days passes for an extreme level of vigilance, but is in fact nothing more than minding our collective store, which is currently teetering on the edge of a national Chaper 11.

yeah your right, too bad that there are too many shiny gadgets and boxes for people to stare at for hours that no one has time to care about politics and other “boring stuff” and its only going to get worse as time goes by and the idiots of my generation who dont know the difference between the gold or silver standard and a “federal reserve note” take over. very sad.
and they say television isnt mind control….
shit, the whole system is mind control, media, commercialism, consumerism, emotions, everything is manipulated and nobody cares
hey Petrefax. although i might not have said it the same way, i would have said the same thing.

“Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.”
- Mark Twain
Catriforge: i think your quote is wonderful and agree with it, but i’m not sure what you’re referring to as anger; if it’s my disgust by recent behavior by authority figures and a call for greater vigilance, i don’t see that as anger. i see it as corrective action that need to be taken before a real display of mass public anger causes potentially violent chaos.
appreciate the input; stay in touch. LK
We have been raped and pillaged by our own for the past 40 years for oil profits. It is a truly abysmal situation we find ourselves in these days, yet not so far removed from the oil shock of the early 1970s. Yes, I remember it well. We took it in the shorts that time too.
As much as I blame the corrupt political system we have saddled ourselves with, I equally blame the corporate greed. Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, The Walton Family and all the other profit whores who made their $$ off the backs of the middle and lower classes need to step up also.
You simply cannot take that kind of capital out of play in a system that depends on capital to survive. The basic economic system cannot function with 200 billion + stuck in banks, and this is a pittance of the overall wealth siphoned off the top of the economy.
WTF? Doesn’t anyone understand that it is all about cash flow? All these complex financial formulas resulted in one basic principle: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division generally will suffice as a means of calculation.
Socialism is a necessity for survival. Most countries have some form of it, whether in healthcare, infrastructure management or social programs.
We knew George Bush could not even run a baseball team. so why was such an imbecile entrusted with the key to the country?
I don’t mean to be an ass, but to your point, JD, if you understood how the money system works you would realize that the system COULD NOT work without 200 billion + sitting in the banks.
It’s a shame, really.
True terror is waking up and realising your high school classmates are running the country…
hey Mik. that plays right into the realization i had a few years ago, whcih is: we are the grownups now, and you’re right, that’s more frightening than any chainsaw movie.
stay in touch and thanks. LK
It is bad when I tried to find an escape to a foreign country. I have been out of work because the government is upholding their shady business practices. I find it messed up that the old {white} men running things can get away with stealing billions of dollars while men on the other side of the world get killed for innocent things like jaywalking. Well, I guess I’m gonna enjoy America while I can…new slogan, “America, where ignorance lives on.”
