Beached: love the clarity and methodical road to the inevitable conclusion, and the logical gotchas. Should Hillary engage in any June shenanigans I won't be able to write a better piece so may, with full attribution, make it part of a post proper. Thanks for taking the time to write. LK

Clinton has shown repeatedly that she inhabits a reality that's, well, different from yours and mine. It has never been more apparent than following her West Virginia win on Tuesday night, and subsequent talks with reporters on Wednesday. There is no way, in the universe I inhabit, that Clinton can make up her shortfall in popular vote, pledged delegates and/or superdelegates between now and June 3. The numbers simply aren't there. Yet she repeatedly told her audience that "everyone's voice deserves to be heard," "all votes need to be counted," etc., during the rest of this primary season, and spoke as if she really believes she can somehow pull these numbers together.

Then, immediately following her impassioned pleas for everyone, in every state and territory, to be allowed to cast their votes, she told us that she wants those votes overturned! Does she think Americans are that stupid that we don't see her juggling, sleight-of-hand tricks? Clinton (a) wants all votes to be counted. Those votes (b) MUST include Michigan and Florida. (This begs the question as to why she didn't insist before the primary season began that our votes be counted, when instead she signed an agreement not to campaign in Michigan and Florida because we were being punished.) After those votes are counted, Clinton wants the superdelegates to (c) exercise their judgment as to who would be the best candidate and the best president, which obviously necessitates their overturning all those votes.

Maybe in Hillaryland this could happen. But I don't think American voters (or superdelegates!) are that dumb.
