Spidey Sense Tingling

There’s a fine line between intuition and paranoia. You can deny the former out of fear that it will be perceived as the latter, but you do so at your own peril. Marvel Comics called it Spidey sense, which was simply a superhero glamorization of what we all know as a sixth sense. And we all have it.
My Spidey sense started tingling upon hearing about the early morning arrest of Faisal Shahzad, the alleged and inept car bomber. After spending 5 months in Pakistan, probably a good part of that time in training, the best he could muster was a collection of gear that was connected more by desire than live wire.
I have little doubt there’s someone in one of the anti-terror agencies whose job and talent is thinking of scenarios besides the obvious ones. Their sixth sense may well be causing them to ask whether a successful explosion was really the primary intent of Saturday night’s exercise, or whether carnage would have been a bonus on top of what might have been a feasibility study of sorts.
I’m feeling a bit of a misdirection play here. I’m guessing the defense is debating that possibility as I write; as you read.
Stay tuned.
