White Collar Looting: Redistribution Republican Style
Obama wants to increase taxes on the top 5% of American earners. And if he’s elected, dollars to donuts says he’s going to delay that as long as we’re mired in the economic quicksand. He can’t change his position now, because middle class America needs a villain (the top 5%) as part of the incentive to vote for him.
Let’s put Joe, who’s not a plumber, and has a tax lien against him, aside for a moment. Obama’s proposed “redistribution” is a variation of the progressive tax code that’s been in business since the IRS was created. No big deal.
The Republican’s idea of a bailout, as proposed by Bush and Paulson, was supposed to take taxpayer money and use it to establish a market that would slowly but surely get the toxic paper out of the system. Instead, taxpayer dollars are being REDISTRIBUTED and used to prop up the banks by buying stock in them and raising their share price, thereby increasing the net worth of the same avaricious knuckleheads who caused this mess in the first place, because those knuckleheads still own company stock and options.
Add to that the fact that some of those financial institutions, which were formerly high flying investment banks, just can’t get that “big bonus regardless of how we perform” mentality out of their self-centered craniums.
Old greedy habits die hard.
So the Democratic candidate proposes a variation on the theme that has been in place for generations while America grew, and he’s labeled a socialist.
The Republican administration pulls the rug out from under the ostensible intentions of the bailout, and REDISTRIBUTES taxpayer dollars to prop up the culprits, while shamelessly allowing them to continue their end of year bonus system.
Looting, white collar style. Instead of breaking a window and running out with a TV, break the backs of working Americans and run out with a wad of cash.
That’s Republican REDISTRIBUTION.

Covert looting – similar to covert campaign ugliness – has long been a mainstay for the GOP. Although, The Falcon is certain that both sides partake, it seems the Republicans are either more greedy, or not slick enough to get away with it. In this day of Headlinespeak, it is amazing that the Obama campaign didn’t flip their collective lids when Ob uttered the “R” word. The Falcon sees a day when campaigning will be so neutered that candidates will, for fear of their words being manipulated, not utter a smidge of a smooge about ANYTHING. In fact, The Falcon, as he considers this concept, has determined it to be a good thing. Imagine. “Hi, My name is Bill and I am running for president.” Generic, no information, a picture of Bill and the family, and off we all go to vote. And all that money that these guys and gals use for promotion would go to say…feeding starving kids and building bridges that don’t collapse. Ah, but The Falcon can only dream!
Well, Obama was slobbering all over himself to get that bailout bill passed. Hmmm, Obama/Bush. Could be a ticket of like-minded candidates…
don’t think so. motivation’s were different. follow up will be way different. Bush will stick his head back in the sands of Texas, Obama will take what a appears to be a quick fix and make it clear that it’s step 1 in a long process.

Motivations were different? Are you that fucking biased?
More democrats supported this bailout bullshit in the first place, not to mention the whole freddy mac fannie mae problems are because of Carter and Clinton.
Wake up dude, both parties are crooked these days and ignoring the faults of your own won’t fix that.
your content is more useful than your presentation. if you’re angry because of the effect the economy is having on you and yours, your mode presentation isn’t likely to get you a job.
content wise you’re right: both parties are crooked. i’m not ignoring the many faults of the party i voted for this election, but your calling it “my own” isn’t correct. look around the site and see the anti-Pelosi diatribes, to bring up one of many non-partisan critiques. fannie and freddie aren’t exclusively dem domains, anymore than wall street bonuses are republicans only.

Er, it was the Democrat leadership that was chastising Republicans for not voting for the bail out in the first round. More Republicans voted AGAINST the bail out than Democrats.
you’re right, but the bailout, once approved, was rendered unrecognizable by Paulson, and used in completely different ways than originally presented. if anything, the Dems can be accused of being gullible and not doing their homework in order to find the loop holes that allowed the wholesale changes to be made.
