It’s Biden
WSJ, AP, and the Obama campaign itself are confirming the selection of Joe Biden as Barack’s running mate. Wouldn’t have been my choice, but it’s not my choice to make. Biden adds some gravitas to the ticket. He’ll also have to deal with the plagiarism incident that forced him to withdraw from the nominating process in ‘88, as well as his well documented respect for John McCain. But no candidate comes without baggage, and it’s an extra charge that they, at least, are used to paying for.
If there’s solace in this selection, it’s that maybe I don’t know and see all the factors that led the Obama brain trust to make their decision. They weren’t unaware of the immediate effect it will have on the Clinton faithful, and maybe alongside their intellectual pedigrees lie pragmatic ones as well, and they took that effect into account.
One can only hope.
