A Cartoon; Not Funny

Regardless of what you think of the Trayvon Martin incident (I tend to believe the earlier reports and the police’s initial desire to press charges against George Zimmerman, rather than the recent counterclaims and the DA’s choosing not to move ahead on the police assertions), this cartoon, courtesy of the University of Texas student newspaper, confirms that enough Texans to matter are living in pre-Confederacy times with a pre-Civil Rights movement mentality.

It’s a wonder they don’t burn pictures of their own LBJ in effigy, and it fuels fears that today’s southern youth are in large part tomorrow’s subversive Klansmen.

Of course, the protesting high school students rampaging through the FLA Walgreens doesn’t help matters any.

Ill. Primary Reflection That Doesn’t Reflect Well

Santorum got the poor evangelical vote but few other demographic groups. One fascinating metric is that he did better with people who think the economy isn’t getting better, and Romney did better with those who think it is.

This initially seemed counter-intuitive, as one would have thought that those who needed the economy to improve would lean towards the business oriented Romney.

However, after thinking it through, it actually makes sense, as (and this is harsh, sad, and true) the poor, poorly educated and less employable take refuge in Santorum’s bigotries.

3’s Not the Charm-Afghan Atrocity Redux

I wrote the below a couple of months ago after the American troops urinated on the Afghan bodies. I might as well have run it after the snipers posed by the SS insignia as well.

In this case, we’ve clearly got a very troubled poor soul who didn’t wait for the “Post” part before directing, in the most tragic of ways, his Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome on other poor innocent souls.

In this case, 3’s definitely not the charm:

This is cold, politically way incorrect, and what I believe to be true:

If you take our armed forces, which are made up, to a shamefully disproportionate degree, of poorly educated service men and women who come from the lower economic rungs of our society, and put them in a living hell on a regular basis, they’re not going to extrapolate as to the geopolitical ramifications of pissing on guys who 5 minutes ago were trying to kill them and/or their buddies, and may well have succeeded to some degree.

They forgot their sensitivity training because it wasn’t nearly as convincing or intensive as the indoctrination they received to defend and attack, which reinforced, then ultimately distorted their primal instincts for self-preservation. The utterly foul Petri dish that Bush and Cheney dropped them into, and Obama and Clinton did nothing to extricate them from, was and remains a breeding ground for vile acts that human beings have committed on a regular basis throughout history.

If you want justice, punish the puppeteers, not the puppets.

On today’s show, LK:

De-mystifies the Greek debt debacle and makes it clear that the Credit Default Swap mess that threatens to bring down Europe and played a big part in bringing down Lehman Brothers is nothing but a bunch of bookies/bankers who can’t pay off winning bets. For once, it’s the bookies/bankers who need their knees broken.

Points out that the Chinese are cleaning our clocks in a way that’s eerily similar to how we brought down the Soviet Union in the ’80’s.

Suggests that no one give up a job they hate in search of greener pastures just yet (don’t stop looking, just don’t give up the bird in the hand), because it’s a misconception to believe that the better economic numbers mean that the coast is clear.

Chastises the NFL players, disses Santorum (like shooting fish in a barrel of contraceptives), takes 30 seconds instead of the 2 full shows it takes other hosts to reconcile the rush from Rush, and declares the Republican quest for the nomination close to a done deal for Romney now that Ted Nugent’s endorsed him. Cat Scratch Fever, Mitt’s new campaign theme song.

Talks with Dr. John Palumbo about the folly of Afghanistan and the pursuit of inner peace.

Johnson & Johnson and Google are both members in good standing of the evil empire of sovereign corporations.

The Mad Max movies continue to be the blueprint for the slow but steady breakdown of society as we know it.

Obama apologizes and the Afghans riot in a further display of his impotency and their irrationality.

All presented with as much good cheer and resilience as a realist can muster.

The sovereign nation of China is hacking into whatever it feels like hacking into, with little or no resistance, while the sovereign nation of Google does the same.

Dr. John declares war on the war on drugs, and takes Syria to task for its cyber-treachery.

It’s time to call in the National Guard to Philadelphia. Stephanie Mayweather, executive director of East Division Crime Victim Services, is out of answers. “I’ve been here for 13 years and I have watched the crime escalate, I have watched the neighborhood deteriorate. I have watched the police presence decline here. I don’t know what the answer is,” said Mayweather.

Out of the nation’s 10 largest cities, Philadelphia’s homicide rate is the worst. Last year ended with 324 homicides, up from 306 in 2010, and as of January of this year, 34 murders and counting.

Philadelphia’s mayor has made it clear the city is waging an all-out war against violent criminals.
“If you want to act like an idiot, if you want to be an a-hole, if you want to be a low-life in this town, we will track you down like the dog that you are. At the news conference announcing the measures, Mayor Nutter put it this way: “To every criminal out there: I just put a $20,000 bounty on your head.” He raised some eyebrows last summer when he took to the pulpit to call out the predominantly black youths involved in the attacks:

“You damage yourself, you damage another person, you damage your peers, and quite honestly, you damage your own race,” said Nutter, who is black and has two children, and is the only way he could get away with making such an inflammatory statement. Blacks make up nearly 84% of the homicide victims, according to police data.

We’re blue in the face from calling on people of all stripes to take responsibility for their children, stop letting them run in packs; calling on education and more programs focused on gang mentality, calling for more positive social outlets, and locating absentee fathers. Obviously none of that is working because none of that is a reality. What is real is Northeast Philadelphia where, unless you are armed, you can’t even cross the street, much less stop at a traffic light without being killed for your pizza or your car. It doesn’t matter which, as the ultra violent street crime is there simply to show who’s in control of the streets.

Instead of spending lives and money in Libya, Syria, and Afghanistan, we need clean up our own messes, because otherwise this is only going to turn even more Mad Max and start spreading to , gasp, the suburbs! Mayor Nutter, I suggest you phone up that urban peacekeeper, Marshall Law, and call the national guard into our own war zone here in Philadelphia.

From the Grammys to Greece, it’s all about addicts, enablers, and co-dependents.   Whitney had entourages that had entourages, but no one with the guts to say “enough”. Greece has a government that’s never governed, and has left the country at the mercy of the Euro-Thugs.

LK scoffs at the antibiotics coursing through his system, and that ain’t all he scoffs at.
